Inside Out - Movie Review

Hey Guys! Welcome back to my weekly blog post! This week I'm going to post something a little bit different from my usual post. Usually I post anything related to anime stuff.. Well this time.. is anim-ated movie (Japanese called anything animated as anime, so yeah) that just I watched yesterday with my girlfriend. Inside Out! A Pixar-Disney movie! At first, I want to watch Battle of Surabaya since it got a lot of "This is our local work! 10/10" reviews, So I really want to watch it... but unfortunately that movie isn't showing everywhere near my house *lol seriously*, So we watched Inside Out instead, and boy, I'm glad we did.

Anyway, Inside Out is released quite late here in Indonesia. We just got this movie released here like 2 weeks ago *probably, I forgot hahaha

Before I watch a movie (or anime/TV series), I tend to be as clueless as possible. I just sit there, and watch the movie. That's how I enjoy something that I watch, So I'm quite sensitive to spoiler. I really love the "not-knowing-what-will-happen-in-this movie". It's fun for me! *that's why I usually review something and tried as hard as possible to not spoil it for the reader so they can enjoy the movie/anime just like I did.

The same thing with Inside Out, I'm really curious what's this movie is all about

I'm going to be less structural than my anime review this time. and as usual, this is a non-spoiler review. but at some point I will put spoiler warning so you won't get spoiled XP

It's not a Pixar-Disney movie if there's no short animated film before the movie started. And it's called Lava. It's about a mountain, in the sea. that mountain is so lonely. I cried and moved by this short movie. (this month's I managed to cry over a mountain and a tadpole shrimp *from Non Non Biyori Repeat*. Achievement Unlocked! Crybaby grown ass man!) Not going to spoil you or anything, but this short animated movie is really interesting and beautiful. Usually the short movie from pixar tends to use almost no narration at all. It's just the animation that tells the story to the audience. This time around, the story exposition delivered through song narrative. It delivers a really sweet love story in just 5 mins. damn it pixar! This short animated movie is one of my favorite after Paperman which featured before Wreck-It-Ralph

Let's talk about the movie now!
Have you ever wondered about what happens in your head when you think of something, feel about something, perceived about something, or memorize about anything that ever happen in your life? This movie describes those kinds of phenomenon that happens in your daily life. So there's 5 personified emotions inside of everyone's head:
1)  Joy, who is in charge for making happy and fun thoughts. (which looks like Ellen DeGeneres somehow)
2) Disgust. who is in charge of to feel disgust *well duh, or as she describes is to protect from poisoning both physically and socially (best character lol)
3) Anger, who is in charge to feel angry for anything
4) Fear, Who is in charge to protect everybody from potential disasters or dangers or in other words, feeling scared and worried about anything
5) and lastly, Sadness, who is in charge for making sad and gloomy thoughts which is the polar opposite character of Joy

*these characters reminds me Metal Gear Solid 3 : Snake Eater boss seriously hahaha! The Fury, The Fear, The Joy, The Sorrow
These 5 emotions are in charge to control every body's emotion, storing their memories based on the emotion felt during that memories. And in that memories there's core memories that shaped someone's personality. Which makes that particular someone is that particular someone!
So this movie is all about that. And it takes a story of something that really happens in a girl named Riley. She is very loved by her parents, have her friends, and loves to play hockey, and she is a very honest and wacky girl. Which makes her core memory is dominated by Joy.

The problem starts when she have to moved from Minnesota in San Francisco because of his dad's job. And the story goes into Riley's head and telling how she feels about moving from her old place to a new one. How did Riley feel when she moved to San Francisco? That's all I can say about the story.

I enjoyed watching this movie and loved the concept of it so much! As I mentioned in my Projective Technique post, Sometimes it is hard for people to describe how they feel. Because it is a very complex and abstract thing and cannot be measured by numbers *except we live in Sibyl System lol*
What makes me even enjoy this movie is because this movie managed to describe anything that happens in every body's (including animals) head in a very simple way! For example :
1) This movie describes the long term memory which is stored in a big shelf and shaped like maze.
2) Memory dump, which dump some memories that is not really needed, or in other words, Forgotten
3) Subconscious, which is a prison in the dark abyss of the thought which stores deep darkest fear.
4) Imagination land, where the imagination is stored *my favorite part of this movie lol
5) Dreamworks Production Studio which describes how dreams works *pun detected
6) Train of thought, which is a very nice pun. It's a train that carries thoughts or memories
7) How pop-up memories works. You know, when suddenly you remember a catchy tune in your head
8) I really like the emotion who dominates the control of emotion are different for every body
for example, Riley is dominated by Joy, her Father is dominated by Anger which describes him as an hotheaded spirited man, and her mother is dominated by Sadness which means she is a melancholic person. I personally think that I am dominated by Joy and second lead would be disgust since I'm a very skeptical person sometimes lololol
9) The concept of feeling empty or void. Where the emotion tries to press the console control but it doesn't work.
I think the theme itself is quite deep and abstract and I honestly kinda doubt that kids will fully understand what is actually they watching. Maybe teenagers can still understand this.

And I really like the ending and the message that it delivers from the ending which is.......

*SPOILER ALERT*

When we talk about moving it means it's about growing up and how we adapt to a new place if that place is not as good as the old one and growing up is not an easy matter. It is okay to be sad about it, It doesn't mean that you have throw away your actual feelings because it is a negative one. It is OK to accept and be honest about how you feel about yourself and tell about how you feel.

*SPOILER ENDS*

Should you watch this? Definitely yes! It's a very unique movie with complex concept which is presented in a simple and fun way.

That's all I can say about this movie. I honestly cried a lot during this movie, I laughed a lot, I feel disgusted at some point, and I feel scared too. Damn it Pixar! Stop playing with our emotions! X'D
What if they make a cross-over between Toy Story and Inside Out which describes what's on those toy's head? Who knows...

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (2012) Anime Review

Hey guys! How's it going!? Sorry for not posting last week, I had explosive diarrhea
*I shouldn't be more explicit on that one. I still feel gassy in my stomach.. But I'm good!

so as you read on the title, This is a review of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (JJBA) or JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken in Japanese... This is going to be a non-spoiler review but at some point I will put spoiler warning if I have to (because It's quite hard not to...)

I didn't know about JoJo at first, but then I realized that I knew about it without realizing that it was JoJo' Bizarre Adventure. It was 2008 where I was still in my college days and I just hooked up to the internet. I knew it from WRYYYYYY from youtube.. And I was keep asking myself,
"Why's that guy suddenly brought up a road roller into a battle??! Holy crap! That thing came out of nowhere! XD"
I didn't realize that was actually a spoiler for Part 3 in JJBA, the climax final battle between Dio and Jotaro.

What triggers me to start to watch this anime is because I feel super saturated with the current airing anime at that time... I was like
"I had enough with moeshit and ecchi! Time to watch something different!" so I thought watching JJBA would be the answer. I miss the time when man doing manly things are considered manly and not gay..
Today's anime was like "Harem ecchi series where most of the characters are girls" which is suited for boys, and "Overly metrosexual men passing balls at each other's face" like Kuroko no Basuke is suited for Girls. And those girls shipped those boys so much. Apparently being friendly to other boys were considered "I want to bang him" by fujoshi
so when Anime is full of men characters in it, the casual anime fan (which I already described here) be like
"Dude! Don't watch this anime! it's Yaoi!"
and I witness that statement on one of our local cinema page when they post Initial D movie (which is awesome btw)..

Before I watch this series, I was expecting Jotaro vs Dio, But this anime series didn't show it here, It's later on in Part 3, Stardust Crusaders
I watched this series like almost 6 months ago but I've been watched this series up to 3 times (alone, with my girlfriend, and my little sister!) Goddammit! XD
So after a long intro, let's just jump into it!

Story
A little bit of background knowledge for you, JJBA is divided into parts. Each parts has its own period or timeline and main character (which is usually called JoJo even though they have different name). Currently in the manga series there are 8 Parts of it.. and it's still ongoing. and this manga has been released from 1986 until now.. (next year would be the 30th anniversary, wow).

So I'm going to tell you the story for each part
Part 1 : Phantom Blood
The story setting is in Britain on 1880's. The story opens up with an accident that happened to the Joestar family, and there's a thug who witness that accident. They were planning to rob and loot them but in the end one of the victim wakes up and grabs his hand. The thug was shocked and thought that he was done for. But then George Joestar thought that the thug is actually helping him, He was like
"Help my son, how's my wife!?"
and the thug replied
"Your son is all right, but your wife is dead"
and George Joestar asked for help for this man. And also asked his name which is Dario Brando.
George Joestar felt indebted to Dario's help.

A few years later, Dario's son, Dio Brando, sent him to the Joestar family because Dario is dying. He has been a douchebag father and told Dio to take all of the wealth in the world. And Dio arrives at the Joestar mansion and in there he met our main character, Jonathan Joestar. Dio's goal is to inherit the Joestar's wealth and make Jonathan's life miserable and make him say
it means "What the hell are you dong?"

And that leads to them fighting and punch each other's face until one of their blood splattered to the stone mask and the blood triggers it to release some spikes out of it.

Several years later, both JoJo and Dio finished their college study, and George Joestar fell sick. Jonathan then revealed that Dio was poisoning his father, and he looked out for an antidote and met a thug named Speedwagon which tells him where the poison is. And Dio was sneakingly snatch the stone mask and wants to kill JoJo with it. and he tested on a random thug on the street and it was revealed that anyone who got stabbed  by that spike on that mask is going to be a vampire.

So later on, JoJo revealed Dio's true nature to his father. And Dio activates the stone mask to himself and he became the Vampire. And apparently he must shout WRYYYYYYYYYY! as his battle cry. JoJo and Dio fight each other out and there's so much casualties happened during the fight.
After that battle, Dio went somewhere else and Jonathan wakes up and met Will. A. Zeppeli the master of Hamon. Hamon is a martial arts which used breathing technique that burns vampire (summarizing power like a baws)

And then JoJo, Speedwagon, and Zeppeli went to look for Dio and stop him and destroy the stone mask once and for all! Will they succeed stopping Dio?

Part 2 : Battle Tendency
Time passed by after the events of Phantom Blood, It's 1938 in New York City now! The story focuses on Jonathan Joestar's Grandson, Joseph Joestar who fights against the Pillar Men which are the creators of the Stone Mask. They are awaken by the Nazi because they want to use it as a weapon for winning the World War II. But that plan backfired. The first awaken pillar men was named "Santana" by Stroheim. And Santana  rampages on the Nazi's camp. Joseph manages to stop Santana and he was told that there's more of Pillar Men. Later on, he was sent to met Caesar Zeppeli and team up with him to stop Pillar Men.

It is revealed that the Pillar Men which are AC/DC, Cars, and Wham (yes you don't read them wrong, it's all band names) are after the mythical Red Stone Aja which is needed in the stone mask in order to make the ultimate being. Joseph and Caesar tried to stop them but defeated so badly. During the process, Joseph manages to stall them and made them not to kill him immediately
he was like
"If you kill me now, you will be sorry because I have more potential to kick your asses in the next months!"
feeling challenged, AC/DC and Wham placed a ring on Joseph's organ which contains poison that will activate in the next month

Feeling insecure, Joseph and Caesar met with the Hamon master Lisa Lisa to train and tries to prevent the pillar men to get the Aja Stone. Will they succeed?

Characters
Part 1

Jonathan Joestar is the main character in Part 1, he is a true gentlemen, but naive at some point which makes me sometimes irritated watching his decision when doing something. But that's okay, I like his character development from a weak naive little boy from a badass hamon user who kicks Dio's ass. His relationship with Erina (his love interest) is very old-school *like chasing around the trees, oh those 1880's trend*.

Dio Brando is the ultimate douchebag main antagonist in Part 1. He is just purely evil, love to make other's life miserable. Killed a lot of people. And I love how the story portrays him as the big bad evil guy that must be hated by the audience but when he is gone, we will miss him so badly. When I watch for the first time I was like "Damn you Dio! I hope you die!" and for the second time I was like "Dio! My god it's been awhile!". I like his development in motivation, when he was a kid, his motivation was like
that sounds like a soap-opera-stepmother goal seriously

and when he became a vampire, his motivation is simply become the top of all. Number 1! Maybe he is one of my all time favorite villain character ever after Joker from Batman haha

Will A, Zeppeli or Master Zeppeli is the my favorite character in Part 1. He is so badass and manly! He teaches Jonathan to master the hamon martial arts. And he always say something really inspirational like
Damn he is so manly!

Robert E.O. Speedwagon or Speedwagon is the best bro ever. At first he was the random thug that wants to rob Jonathan when he is looking for an antidote for his father. And he fights JoJo. And he feels that JoJo is so gentleman and naive, and he likes JoJo's personality and become interested in him (not in that way ok?). He is an important character in this part because he yells everything about anything that happens before his eyes. It feels like he is replacing the narrator's job describing anything that happens during the show (lol). Later on in Part 2 he made a foundation named after his name and helps Joseph Joestar to stop the Pillar Men. I told you he is important! Man I wish I have a bro like him.

Part 2

Joseph Joestar is the main character in Part 2 and probably my all time favorite JoJo in the series (I haven't read all the JoJo manga, so yeah XP). His personality is so wacky and funny. But badass at the same time. It feels like watching Gintoki Sakata from Gintama (welp maybe because he is voiced by Tomokazu Sugita as well) or Dante with DMC 3 personality. He talks a lot in the battle. Sometimes he use provoking in order to win the battle. He has a big mouth personality. The mind games and being tactical during the fight makes him even more a likeable character. One thing that I like from him is he loves to predict what the opponent is going to say for example "Your next line would be '(insert line here)'" and the opponent says the exact same thing!

Caesar Zepelli is Joseph's sidekick who is a ladies' man. He is the polar opposite of Joseph' personality who is rather more cool, calm and composed. I like his hamon ability who uses bubbles as his power. At first I was like "Bubble doesn't sound so intimidating to me" but apparently his hamon techniques are quite deadly. It can cut things, prison someone inside of it and make someone suffocated. He is also a badass character

from left to right : AC/DC, Cars, Wham

The Pillar Men are the main antagonists in Part 2. Their names are band names which is hilarious at some point. Each pillar men has their own personality. AC/DC is more a cunning person, Wham takes proud when it comes to fight. And Cars is a scumbag person who is obsessed to be the ultimate being. Each of their traits makes them stands out and memorable.

Animation and Sound
David Pro making a good job and give the "Bizarre" vibe throughout the series. The animation is cool and it feels like a true anime adaptation from the manga. As for the soundtrack, The first OP which is the best OP is Sono Chi no Sadame which is the opening for Part 1. It just so catchy and sets the manly mood and pumps you up just listen to it! I freaking love the reff!

The second Opening song for part 2 is Bloody Stream, it gives more of a modern feel since the setting is more modern than part 1. Still pumping tho

and the best part of this anime is the ending. I was surprised at first when I heard the ending at the first episode. I'm very familiar with 70's-80's rock songs. So when I heard the guitar intro at the end of this anime I was like "Holy crap! Isn't this YES!?" and I heard the song and yes, it was YES! (lolwut).  Yes - Roundabout probably the best Ending song ever in anime history for me lol. It gives the bizarre and mysterious mood from the series. And just listen to the bass.. it's so damn catchy! just listen to it now.

as for the BGM in the anime, for Part 1 its more classical since it 1880's, while part 2 is more rock influenced. There's even a YES song as the BGM when Joseph encounters Santana at the first time. It's "Owner of the lonely heart" intro song. Part 2 also have some arabic music influence which are the pillar men's theme.
so arabic. wow

Personal Enjoyment
Superb enjoyment throughout the series, What's not to enjoy from this series? Epic battles, a lot of comedic moments, hilarious reference to rock bands, epic fabulous pose.
yes
there's a lot of epic fabulous pose,
I honestly do a lot of Caesar's pose seriously
more poses!

Even more poses in the next Parts ahead. A friend of mine tried to go out of his car in Dio's manner in part 1 and he fell out of car instead. Don't try to pull out some stunts from JoJo guys. It's very tempting to be tried tho hahahaha
And each battle has their unique concept sometimes you have to think about it first, but you'll get use to it. And what makes me love this series is because it is very very consistent with its own logic or concept. You can see it if you watch it on your own XD

Problems that I have with this anime
Even though I enjoyed this anime so much, I have some minor problems with this series :

1) Some minor plotholes that actually covered in the manga but not shown in the anime, for example, where does the stone mask that George Joestar come from? It is explained in the manga though, but not shown in this anime

2) Deus ex Machina : well it's not a shounen series if there's not plot device or Deus ex Machina to make the story goes on. It's not a major problem, but still, you can't have a lot of coincidences like that in real life lol. I want to give you example but I will put the spoiler alert here

Spoiler alert!

in Part 1 when it is revealed to the jonathan's father that Dio is actually an evil person, At that scene the Jojo's dad is there to witness Dio scheming to kill him. And then he said "I will go to my room I can't see my son got arrested" and then when Dio is going to be arrested by the policemen, He tried to stab JoJo with his knife in order to activate the Stone Mask, but suddenly it was revealed that it was JoJo's dad that was stabbed by Dio. And I was like "Huh? WTF!? I THOUGHT YOU WERE IN YOUR ROOM!?"

- in Part 2 ending when Cars almost finished Joseph Joestar once and for all, he attacks JoJo with Hamon and JoJo takes it with Aja Stone which happens to be in his arms. and he won because of that. What a convenient coincidence don't you think? lol

Spoiler ends

Should You watch it?
yes if you are into man doing manly things and great entertaining story. Not really recommended for those who wants some moe shit or looking for waifu material here. Except Speedwagon, he is a god tier waifu material *eh

Suggestions

Hokuto no Ken! It has quite the same theme "man doing manly things" but I haven't watch or finish reading it yet. Planning to watch the anime because I need more manly anime!

That's it, I hope you enjoyed this anime review, sorry it take longer than I expected lol. Thanks for reading! :D

Anime Elitist vs Anime Casuals

Hey guys! How's it going? Welcome back to my weekly post! I had a busy week at work *as usual* but yeah. that's life. you gotta face 'em all! Anyway I managed to upgrade my 3DS to New 3DS and it was AWESOME! Finally I got to play Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate with 60 fps and 3D on! My god! best. game. ever! I was thinking to not to update my blog because of this lol

Anyway, this week I'm going to rant a little bit. This post is going to be my personal opinion on Anime Elitist and Anime Casuals

The thing is,

Anime community sucks

seriously though, I entered and saw some discussion on the internet about Anime, and yeah, it sucks so hard! Not just local anime community, but also other anime community
and I noticed that there are two types of person from this anime community *generally
Which is Anime Elitist and Anime Casuals.
Anime Elitist is an anime enthusiasts who thinks that his/her taste is so refined so other anime which is not qualified as "God Tier" anime is going to be called trash. They usually have watched like more than 300 anime titles.
They'd be like "Oh your taste in anime is so shitty!"

"Your waifu is a whore! what a shit taste you have!"

"You watched this anime and you liked it? WHAT A PLEB!"

"You only watch the anime and thought that character is shitty?? READ THE MANGO PLOX!"

MANGO IS FOOD! WHY SHOULD WE READ FOOD? WE EAT FOOD GODDAMMIT!

so yeah that kind of person

While anime casuals are the one who watches like 5 anime and be like "OH MY GOD THIS IS THE BEST ANIME EVER!". They enjoy that kind of anime, usually the anime that they watch are the "mainstream" anime like Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, Sword Art Online, Attack on Titan and so on

So these 2 types of person really, really, got my nerves sometimes *hahaha
What got my nerves for both of these guys is because the elitist feels like "Holier than thou" kind of person but in anime community. And Anime community is a niche community which means it is a small community. And this so called elitist are even more niche than the anime community. And Anime casuals are the majority of the community. And seeing these two types of person debating over anime is just down right hilarious. The elitist love to make fun of the casuals, and the casuals be like what the hell man! THIS IS THE BEST ANIME EVER!

Personally I'm neither an elitists or casual because I also have watched like 250 anime titles *not qualified lol
but I watched anime just to know and feel engaged to its story, and most of the anime which elitist claims to be "God Tier" Anime are my favorite anime like JoJo's Bizzare Adventure for example
And sometimes I watched anime just to escape from reality for a bit and just to sit and enjoy the ride. And that "enjoy" kind of thing is just my personal taste. I enjoyed some of the (so called by elitist) shitty anime like One Piece or UtaPri *yes I watched this with my girlfriend and we were like CinemaSins commenting on everything that wrong with that show lol* but I enjoyed watching anime or read manga which has intriguing story like Mushishi, 20th Century Boys, Madoka Magica and so on.

My point here is, just don't be a dick to others. Opinion of other people should be respected even it is a stupid opinion like "SAO is the best anime ever" *I laughed out loud typing this sentence*
I work as a qualitative marketing researcher which heavily relies on respondent's opinion
My boss always said to me  "Every opinion matters no matter how silly they are".
Both elitist and casuals take the opinion as a fact and didn't respect each other's opinion. The thing is, opinion is not a fact. it's just an opinion. My preferences with your preferences are different. even though you judged my preferences as shitty, I don't mind! I'm ok with that

Just
don't
be
a dick!

What triggers me to post this is because I saw a post (you can click that one if you understand Bahasa Indonesia) yesterday that happens in my campus which holding a Japanese event from yesterday till today. And there's a girl who cosplays as Nico from Love Live! Personally, Nico is my least favourite character because of her annoying personality. (Remember that was just my opinion). And in Indonesian Anime Community there's a meme spreading out in the internet that says
"Waifumu lacur mz" and the direct translation would be "Your waifu is a whore, sir!" which is usually used by so-called "Anime Elitist"
And Nico is considered as a "lacur" or a whore by the elitist
And you know what happened?
There's a person shouting "Whore!" to her in that event..........

Seriously??

Is this how you elitist work? What the hell man, You are lucky I'm not around in that event..  If I was happen to be around, I'd be like

You can call me SJW or anything but, I'd totally hit that person. Can you imagine how that girl feel to be called like that? Those inconsiderate bastards! You can joke around on the internet, but when in public places, that joke can be taken as an insult! Just know your place!

*sigh

Back to the topic, my point is, just don't be a dick to others!
Here 's a quote from Ritsu Senpai from Bokura wa minna Kawaisou

Sorry for the rant guys, I hope that this anime community will be a better community. If it helps, I'd love to guide those "anime casuals" to watch even more anime that has better story and quality. That's your job elitist!
Thanks for reading!

What makes a mature anime?

Hey guys, welcome back to my blog! Hope you guys are feeling well and healthy!
I had a minor accident this week. It's not that horrible, but I'm okay! This week I had a little bit of confusion of what should I post this week, I had materials and so on *in my head* but didn't have the time to write it here *or make a draft out of it* because I'm quite busy with work this week hahaha! So hopefully you enjoy this week's post! I promise to my self to post at least an entry every Sunday.

Enough with the chit chat, let's jam!

As a person who spent a lot of time on the internet, sometimes I just love to see how people interact with each other, and on this case is the anime lover vs the normal person

The normal person would normally see people who loves to watch anime is childish. That person would be like

"Oh you still watch cartoon? What a brat!"

and the anime lover be like

"It's not cartoon! It's anime!"

and that particular anime lover post it in the anime group and be like

"This normies never watched anime and told that it was childish! This guy never seen Highschool DxD!"

Welp, that was an interesting statement......

Personally, I'd ignore what normal people say about anime. If they say childish, I don't mind. Don't make other people's judgement bothers who you really are. I am 25 years old now and I can say that I still enjoy watching anime because I just love it! Should you care about them not liking anime? No, just love what you do. It's better for you to spend time doing something you really enjoy better than looking after someone and get pissed at someone who don't really care about you, right?

Anyway,

Highschool DxD is an anime that heavily relies on... Sexual themes, as you can see here, The "plot" is just too huge to handle lol
Look at the size of that.........hair! My god she has long hair! *eh

Now we're back to the main title's question... What makes a mature anime? That anime lover sure thinks that if the anime has a lot of titties then it is qualified as a mature anime...

Well, he is not 100% right or wrong...

"How about violence? Anime that contains a lot of violence should be classified as mature anime right?? Take a look at Tokyo Ghoul or Shingeki no Kyojin, PEOPLE DIED THERE! THERE'S A LOT OF BLOOD, MUTILATED PARTS OF BODIES! "

Welp, again, it's not 100% right or wrong

In my opinion, what makes a mature anime qualified as "mature" if it has a story that is only relatable and understandable for mature audiences. Does that include sexual themes and violence? Yes, it could be. Sex is a part of our life, we can't deny its existence and it what makes us human a human. And violence or should I say aggression is one of the way to solve a problem if two of unmet paradigm clashes and didn't meet any conclusion, that's why war happens. War.. war never change.. *Fallout 3 anyone?*

To make it easier, let's classify this into genres, which are Shounen and Seinen genre
Shounen in Japanese means "A Young boy" while Seinen means "an adult man". These 2 genres are differentiated by its "target audiences". So if you see a seinen genre, it is targeted to the more mature audiences. Can younger audiences enjoy seinen genre? They could, but they can't get the same grasp like the mature audience do. That's why sometimes the younger audience misunderstand the concept that is being delivered in the Seinen genre. The same way with mature audience who watches shounen genre. They can enjoy it but sometimes they can't relate to the younger audiences' problem *like I do when I watched high school romance drama anime now*

So how about Naruto? It has violence, does it classify as a mature anime?
For me, it's big no since the kids and teenagers can relate a lot to this anime and understand this very well, The struggle to get back your homo friend who lost his ways are real yo! *pfft*

Highschool DxD? It has sexual themes, does it classify as a mature anime?
For me. it's a big no! Since, well.. there's almost no story in it.. *almost* and this anime is full of fanservice. What is a fanservice? well, it's servicing the fans! There's a lot of form of fanservice but in this context is to make the male audience pleased by giving the image to satisfy their carnal desire.

Those two series that I mentioned above are classified as shounen genre. Seinen genre use violence and sexual content as well, but there's a series that almost didn't use those two elements and relies heavily on story

Take Mushishi for example, They can deliver a great story and setting of the world in this anime which is very intriguing and makes you think without using violence or sexual content. I totally recommend this anime because this anime is so good and quite underrated and not popular since, yeah, no sexual theme or moe character to attract most people lol
Ginko FTW, Mushishi probably one of the best underrated anime I've ever seen. The soundtrack is awesome too

Maybe some of you guys asked, "Why you choose Naruto as an example? There's a lot of anime that has more gore and violence in it!"

The thing is, Naruto is very popular series and you (including me as well) can accept the tonality of violence or sexual content of a certain anime, but how about the other people?

The tonality of acceptance of the sexual or the violence content depends on where you are actually. Here in Indonesia, even Naruto's violent action sequence is heavily censored by our local television. Even Spongebob Squarepants got censored for god's sake!
She wears a bra and blurred out by our TV, WHO'D TURNED ON BY THIS SERIOUSLY!? WTF

So what makes a mature anime is mature for you guys? :D
